How much does a tire change cost?
The question of tire replacement costs comes back every season, as for many drivers, regular tire replacement represents a recurring car operating expense. In 2026, standard tire replacement in Poland most often costs around PLN 120–190 per set of tires in simpler configurations, whereas for larger sizes, more demanding tires, or additional services, the bill usually rises to PLN 250–300, and sometimes more. Furthermore, tire replacement prices can fluctuate depending on city size – in large cities, the service price can be higher than in smaller towns.
If you plan to purchase new tires, it is a good idea to check the price list of your chosen tire service right away, as installing a new set is sometimes billed differently than a seasonal wheel swap.
What does the service price depend on?
How much we pay for tire replacement depends primarily on whether the shop performs just a wheel swap or a full service: demounting, mounting the tire with wheel balancing, and remounting the wheels onto the car. The price is also influenced by:
- rim type,
- wheel size,
- vehicle type,
- presence of TPMS systems.
In other words, what does an example tire replacement price list depend on? On the scope of work, rim size, tire type, and shop location.
In practice, servicing a steel rim is usually the cheapest. When an aluminum rim is involved, the replacement price increases because such a service requires greater precision and care when working with the rim. Oponeo shows average prices for R16 at around PLN 39 per piece for a steel rim and around PLN 44 per piece for an aluminum rim, which equals approximately PLN 156 and PLN 176 per set, respectively.
A separate category includes larger vehicles, including off-road vehicles, where the size and weight of the wheels directly affect servicing costs. In their case, usually not only the price of the service itself increases, but often also the time it takes to replace the tires, especially if the shop performs full diagnostics and precise balancing. However, it is not worth delaying a visit to the service shop, as continuing to drive on improperly matched or worn-out tires can negatively affect safety and driving comfort.

What does the service usually include?
Standard tire replacement with balancing includes removing the wheels, demounting old tires, mounting new ones, balancing the wheels, and installing the balanced wheels onto the car. Some shops charge extra for valve replacement, TPMS servicing (both replacing tires on wheels equipped with sensors as well as their additional programming or pairing to the vehicle), or nitrogen inflation. That is why it is worth checking the tire service price list in advance for the tire replacement cost or asking for a quote, as some shops charge separate additional fees for items that customers consider standard.
Run Flat, TPMS, and additional services
If the car has run-flat tires, an extra charge must be expected. Such run-flat tire replacement is more expensive because these tires require specialized equipment, greater care, and often special tools. The same applies to wheels equipped with pressure sensors (TPMS – Tire Pressure Monitoring System), where additional servicing costs usually apply due to the risk of damaging the sensor during tire replacement.
The bill may also include additional services, such as tire repair or rim straightening.
How much does DIY replacement cost?
And how much does replacing tires yourself cost? If you already have two complete sets of wheels, home replacement can reduce the labor cost to zero, but only if you have a jack, the appropriate wrench, and a workspace. The problem is that such a swap does not replace professional wheel replacement with balancing. If you only own one set of steel or aluminum rims, using a tire changer and a wheel balancer is required; due to equipment costs and necessary qualifications for operation, it is best to entrust such a service to professional workshops.
Additionally, remember to perform DIY wheel replacements with due caution, paying particular attention to safely raising and securing the vehicle, as well as properly tightening the wheel bolts or nuts.
How much will you pay for tire replacement at a tire shop?
The tire replacement price is lower when choosing a simple wheel swap on a steel rim, and higher when the car has large rims, aluminum wheels, TPMS, etc. The shortest answer to how much tire replacement costs is: most often from around PLN 120 to 300 per set, depending on the scope of service, city, and tire type. However, a well-executed tire replacement is not just a cost, but also ensures driving safety and comfort.
